Founder - Martha's Vineyard Poetry Society; Founding publisher of 'Martha’s Vineyard Magazine' and 'Nantucket Magazine'. Both magazines published poetry and had an environmental emphasis. Author of 'History of Wind Power on Martha's Vineyard'; 'The Holy Order of Water, Healing Earth’s Waters and Ourselves' - a philosophical, spiritual, healing book; publisher/editor of 'Water Voices from Around The World'; five articles published in the 'Water Encyclopedia' published by John Wiley & Sons; water essay published by National Geographic in 'Written in Water, Messages of Hope for Earth’s Most Precious Resource'.
Poetry has been a part of my life since grade school. While attending Fairleigh Dickinson University I chose to study Creative Poetry as an elective. My poems have been published in various books, anthologies, newspapers, magazines, and Internet sites. I've won several poetry awards, including the World of Poetry Golden Poet Award in 1988 and 1992, and the World of Poetry Gold Medal of Honor. I was inducted into the Homer Honor Society of International Poets in 1992.
I've read my poetry, spoken, and performed Native American Flute at: the United Nations; the Temple of Understanding; Conscious Life Expo in Los Angeles; Church Center for the United Nations; United Nations’ International Peace and Ecology Vigil at Central Park's Bandshell; Council for a Parliament of World's Religions in Israel; Book Expo America; New England Conference of Governors; Drew University; University of Lincoln–Nebraska; University of Arizona; Fairleigh Dickinson University; Groundwater Foundation Annual Conference; Lincoln Center; Sundance Film Festival; World Water Day Celebration at the United Nations; World Water Day Film Festival; Florida State University; Southern Illinois University; University of California (Santa Barbara/Berkeley/Los Angeles/Davis) : International Symposium of Aqua Science and Water Resources (simulcast to eleven countries) : National Geographic’s International “Water Is Life” Celebration; World Water Consciousness conference at University of California; A Gathering of Island Poets; Annual Celebration of Pathways Projects Institutes; Martha's Vineyard All-Island Selectmen; Featherstone Center for the Arts, and many other venues.
I have visited and researched water in over 15 countries and am involved with documentaries for television, DVD, and theatrical release. My work has been featured in media by: National Geographic; CNN; MSNBC; MVTV; Chronicle TV; Plum TV; CBS; NBC; ABC; NPR; Coast-to-Coast radio; UPI; AP; New York Times; New York Post; AlterNet; Newark Star-Ledger; Care2.com; MaximsNews, and many others.
