She has published a dozen collections of poems, including Pas revoir, translated by poet Susan Wicks and published by Arc publishers under the title Cold Spring in Winter, shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize,2010. She has translated works by Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes and William Carlos Williams and the photographer Duane Michals. She lives mainly by her pen through public readings, poetry workshops in schools and radio.
Valérie Rouzeau is known for her civic generosity (few poets in France today are so in demand at schools and residencies and readings) . She is also one of the finest translators of poetry in English into French today, the capstone being her versions of Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes.
Valérie Rouzeau, born in Cosne-sur-Loire, near Nevers in the Burgundy region of France, on 22 August 1967, is a French poet and translator. She received the Prix Guillaume Apollinaire for Poetry in 2012 for the collection Vrouz. She currently lives in Nevers (Nièvre) .
