Sara Neame Poems

There’s a hole in my life when you go,
And emptiness, a longing.
I want you to go, wouldn’t stop you.
I raised you to go –
...

Remembering

Remembering how I used to feel
When you first noticed me,
...

Caught

I’ve been caught by a fisherman,
...

Love child –
Born out of wedlock,
Child of mixed race,
Beautiful.

Daughter

There’s a hole in my life when you go,
And emptiness, a longing.
I want you to go, wouldn’t stop you.
I raised you to go –
Make your own way in life –
With all that I’ve taught you supporting you.

But there’s still a hole
An aching gap
That no one else can fill.
I hope you’ll return
I know you’ll be back.
You’re not mine
You never were.
You were a gift for me to nurture and love
And send you on your way when you were ready.

Go, daughter, and travel well
Through the world of the rest of your life
