Whose sublime wryness, flawed though seemed betimes;

In this hapless world so dark-
What stays yet for me to see?
Oh! bored and sick I grow each day,
To find such widespread misery....

Life is but a dream -
With the knell of parting dawn
it breaks; while you sleep!

I am the old dog, lean lean and frail,
Driven away by his master –
