Broken English is but an immigrant's version and vision of poetic deliberation which the poetess as a child saw it, came to feel and mark it in her poesy, how they landed in a no-man's land without any acquaintance and identity, eked out a living and took it to be their own and as such had been the case of the indentured labourers who left for during the colonial period as for plantation and other works to far away islands and destinations.

It is really an amazing poem.
So how dare you mock your mother when she opens her mouth and broken English spills out. Her accent is thick like honey, hold it with your life, it's the only thing she has left from home. Don't stomp on that richness, instead hang it up on the walls of museums next to Dali and Van Gogh - - - - An excellently written poem that shows your deep regards for your immigrant parents .
