Very painful indeed! But so lastingly and caringly written!

A poet who observes the small but significant details of life, sometimes in a humorous way. When i start reading his poems, I wonder what the ending will be. Roger McGough is like an entertainer.

I like his poems, except those which deal with food or trivial things. A great humorist of the language.

I was looking for a poem from many years ago. Maybe 45 years ago. it was a man a a bus and heard about a rumour that world would soon end. As people also hears it they started to make love. The end has still ended, but in a wat it has

I remember Roger McGough reading some of his own poems at the City of London Fair which took place in the City at lunchtime many years ago (I have been retired for 28 years) . I was quite new to his poems then but I enjoyed hearing him and also the likes of Judi Dench reading poems in City churches for free in the lunchtime during June each summer. Have not heard any poets reading their own poems since.
