The Imperial Examinations Nearing: To Waterworks Minister Zhang (Ji)
- Zhu Qinyu
- Translated by Frank C Yue

In the wedding bedroom last night,
The repair of red candles burned bright;
To pay respects to the new parents,
For first light in the hall waiting -
Her make-up after doing,
She asks softly her husband now,
Are the shades just right for my eyebrows?

洞房昨夜停紅燭
待曉堂前拜舅姑
妝罷低聲問夫婿
畫眉深淺入時無
