You've an army of combatant angels in your head...
...to fight for you the battle against your evil nafs;
Indeed the nafs that overwhelmingly commands...
...a person to do sin;
That is nafs-ul-ammarah!
Do you think God has left you ill prepared...
...to fight against your avowed enemy... nafs-ul-ammarah?
Nay, God at your guard has kept the Divine intellect...
...and believe that your lord wants to protect you...
...from going astray, and commit sin;
That is, nafs-ul-lawwamah!
When Satan brings you to do sin, then at that moment...
...the Divine intellect cautions you agains evil...
..and reproaches you, to make you feel guilty conscious...
...and then repent and relent;
Thus, you are all the time fighting a battle with your evil nafs.
Those who take commands from nafs-ul-ammarah are ruined!
Those who take admonition from nafs-ul-lawwamah are saved!
They attain to be nafs-ul- mutaminah (contented soul) ;
So it is said to them: oh contented soul!
Return to your Lord well pleased, and pleasing to Him
They are content with the will of Allah Almighty!
There is nothing else that makes them happy!
They have reached a state of serenity!
The serene, contented, tranquile, at peace, they are!
