Youth And Age Comments

Although the world oppressed him in his youth, the speaker finds the world flattering him in old age. It does not appear that the world has necessarily come to respect and admire him but has simply grown tolerant of him because he will soon be gone. Indeed, the world " speeds the parting guest, " suggesting that the world will be glad to see him go.

A short discourse on the young and old. Wisdom and maturity advances with age. Good.

While we ages the thoughts becomes wise. The poem is great.

Short but sinnificant in substance as it shows clearly truth that with age development and matutiry increase.

I disagree with Cs, I believe much wisdom is to be found in this tiny poem by the dean of English language writers.

This poem has significance only because it is from Yeats. The third line is meaningful only because Yeats is in the context.

It is a happening matter. A sensitive youngster with genuine heart and intellect has such a state of life during the course of one's life's journey!

No waste of words from Yeats.
