Your Mother Knows Poem by Randy McClave

Your Mother Knows

Always listen to your mother
Before you ever listen to any other,
And always take her advice
If you don't there could be a hefty price.
You are now wearing her youthful shoes
She most definitely knows what you are going through,
And the errored paths that she did take
Those same journeys she don't want you to make.
She's not trying to make you angry or mad
And she is not trying to make your life miserable or sad,
But, I promise if you don't listen or obey her
Those moments will most undoubtedly occur.
She already knows where you might be heading
By actions and quotes you are accidentally shedding,
And I will tell you this, please beware
Because your mother has once also been there.
So, before you say or mutter about her a bad name
And before she receives your anguish and your blame,
Do you really think that she enjoys the punishment she is giving
Please believe me, in her heart she is also grieving.
If you get grounded it's always for a reason
Believe me, to her it's not revenge or at all pleasing,
And I guarantee you if you are ever grounded
I bet the reason why is not unfounded.
Your mother loves you more than you could ever know
And mistakes and errors and remorse she doesn't want you to sow,
She just wants you to understand and learn
And she doesn't want you to ever fall and burn.
