An amazing thought that show the lingering yearning for the lover, heart throbbing for the sound of her laughter. What a world if she feels the same way for him!

I feel so deprived and sad that I know no Spanish, for I am not able to read the Poems of Pablo Neruda in their original Spanish.

Laughter helps to take away the solitudes of life, it brings something better to " The game of life."

Take bread away from me, if you wish, take air away, but do not take from me your laughter. Do not take away the rose, the lance flower that you pluck, the water that suddenly bursts forth in joy, the sudden wave of silver born in you. - - - One of the most beautiful poem on love.

Part 7 Again, how I regret that I can not read Spanish. Just enough Spanish to read and enjoy this poem in original. I could give my life for that boon, if God we’re benevolent enough.

Part 6 And he closes the poem quite emotionally: “when I open my eyes and close them, when my steps go, when my steps return, deny me bread, air, light, spring, but never your laughter for I would die. ”

Part 5 And how does the poet describes himself? A “clumsy boy who loves you”. That he is sceptical whether he deserves her love! He even thinks that he could be an object of her laughter. But he does not detest being laughed at by her. He is satisfied on being noticed by her even if it for laughing at him. Contd.

Part 4 The metaphor in the fourth stanza takes one by surprise: “in the spring, love, I want your laughter like the flower I was waiting for, the blue flower, the rose of my echoing country.” A train of metaphors, again drawn from nature. “Your laughter is the flower I have been waiting for. “ But the reference to “the blue flower, the Rose of my echoing country”! ! !

Part 3 The third stanza states how rejuvenating is “your laughter “ for me. We may read “your love “ here. States, how it would raise the poet to the skies, even at times of tiredness and despair. And then, “if suddenly you see my blood staining the stones of the street, laugh, because your laughter will be for my hands like a fresh sword.” How he chooses his words! Contd...
