Your Grace, Abba Father Poem by Gladden Scribbles

Your Grace, Abba Father

Your grace, Abba Father—
Is the hand that clutches our sleeves,
Preventing us from falling into the pit of the tempter.
We, by no means, deserve this gift,
But your holiness overlooks our failings
And grants your creation a continued chance.

Keep on reigning, dear Lord.

We have sinned countless times—
And will surely sin in days to come.
Though our sins rise as high as mountains,
Though they are as many as the fishes in the sea—
Your oneness, seeing this, forgives us,
The Cornerstone's grace will cleanse us all.

Merciful Father, forgive us.

The people of this world see your light;
They live, dine, and find joy in it.
You made them, O Lord, gave them free will,
And set them to rest in your care.
Though atheists and agnostics exist,
Your grace suffices for all that is.

Cheerful Giver, we thank you.

It is you who give and take, O Lord,
For our death is the proof of mortality in us.
It is you who promised us immortality,
That through Christ we may live forever in your care.
It is you who will judge us all,
And grant the gift of immortality by our deeds.

Divine Lord, let your will be done.

We ask that you bestow your Holy Spirit upon us,
That we may forever walk in your precious light.
We ask for the will to tread your path,
That unbelievers may testify to your name.
These are what we desire, good Lord;
These are what we seek in your mighty name.

Amen.
