Young Poem by Phoenix Feniks

Young

Rating: 5.0

I am not too young to know everything.
I may not be able to tell you why rainbows are colourful,
or why your pupils dialate when you see something
that you adore,
but i know what it feels like.
I know what it feels like to adore someone,
to finally feel as you belong.
I know what it feels like to sense joy envelope you in its warm embrace,
promising to never let you go
as your eyes glimmer with tears of a new,
positive era.

I know what it feels like as your lungs heave,
a result of the sobs you cannot stop flowing from your mouth
at the loss of a loved one.
I know what it feels like to bottle yourself up into a decorative vase,
comforting others who whine into your arms
as your own emotions taunt you behind corners.
I know what it feels like to know it was your fault,
guilt overcoming and plaguing every sense you have.
I know what it feels like to struggle with goodbyes,
as your father never returned
after he said that solemn goodbye.
I may not be able to tell you why ice melts in the summer heat,
or why you shiver in the cold,
but i am not young enough to know everything.
