You Win. Poem by Bree Swart

You Win.

Is this what you wanted?
Did it turn out the way you planned?
Well congratulations,
You have defeated me,
You now take my hand.

You verbally deteriorated me,
And you did it with such ease,
Next time save me the trouble,
And tell me to go away,
Please.

It is impossible to win with you,
I don't know how I held on,
I guess my love was just so strong.

Now that love has disappeared,
And you don't care,
You never did,
Your face I can't even bare.

It is too hard, and I struggle each time,
But you have this way,
Of keeping me holding on,
Which is a dreadful crime.

I'm finally starting to let go,
And it is for the best,
I can no longer let my feelings not show,
I need to express.

I need a release,
I need an escape,
You win,
You caused my fate.
