A little back ground, so you all can understand this poem, and where it’s coming from. Just last week, I had to put my dog down, he was my best friend in the world. I had him for 13 out of my 17 years of life. I love him with all my heart. And this is for him. My best friend

Tyler, the death of your dog has obviously effected you very deeply. I read your first poem on the subject, but this one is better - not because it is less loving, but because it reads more like a poem in the way you have constructed it. The repetition of the line 'you were there' is a good poetic device (like the chorus of a song) to reinforce the intensity of your message and the final stanza is very nicely phrased.
