You Failed Her Poem by Lisa AT

You Failed Her

You failed her, not just as a man, but as a soul
Hurting her while she was already broken and cold
She carried secrets, silent battles untold
Fighting to hold on, while her heart grew old

She struggled to find worth, drowning in her mind
Stretched thin by life, yet still, she chose to be kind
She showed up for you, with a heart full of pain
And you, you became another wound, another strain

When she needed comfort, you gave her confusion and fear
When she needed closeness, you pulled away, leaving her in tears
When she needed safety, you made her feel disposable and worn
You didn't see her pain, you added to it, and left her forlorn

You didn't protect her, you became another reason she had to hide
You let her suffer in silence, and still expected her to be your guide
But one day, you'll realise, the love she gave wasn't ordinary
It was selfless, rare, and true, but you didn't know its worth, nor its beauty

By the time you understand, she'll be gone, but not broken
Healed, and finally loving herself, the way you never spoke
She'll rise, and shine, and learn to love again
But it won't be you, it will be herself, and that's when she'll begin.
