An amazing woman, there is no doubt;
More accolades than many men have earned.
Even though there were things you did without,
Lots were the deeds you did and things you learned.

I think I left several more comments here yesterday; WHERE THE...ARE THEY? ? ? Am I looney? Don't answer that. bri ;) p.s. PH offers no stars to choose from. ; (
A lovely poem about a woman I also admire. I guessed it was Amelia before I saw that the poem is an acrostic. Cleverly written!
ahha, an ACROSTIC, I now see 'tis. I didn't notice; I really did think of her due to her photo and maybe some of the poem (probably) . Well done, but it's a pity if others don't figure out who you speak of.
'Earhart and Noonan [her navigator] left Miami on June 1,1937, flying east along an equatorial route. The flight wouldn't be the first to circle the globe, but at 29,000 miles it would be the longest.'
'was one of the first aviators to promote commercial air travel, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots.'
'American aviation pioneer and writer. Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set many other records, ...
Is that Amelia Earhart? ' Each time I gaze up in the azure skies And see a a silver vessel gliding by, Right then I try to stifle all my sighs, Hold in my tears and struggle not to cry.' Are you referring to an airplane? She and her plane disappeared.
And LeeAnn, she disappeared in the mid-Pacific during July 1937, along with her co-pilot, on her circum-navigational adventure. And was declared dead in early 1939, the remains of her body, or her co-pilot or aircraft have not yet been found.
Yes, legally declared dead in 1939 but probably died in 1937. Thanks for your multiple comments.
Though Kim has not divulged the identity of the person pictured here, my memory cells were kindled instantly. Took about them long minutes before I could decipher that it is Amelia Earhart.
My memory cells were hibernating! It would have taken me forever to figure out who she is. THX for saving my cells! Sincerely!
Your brain cells would not have had to work quite so hard if you had noticed that this is an acrostic poem!
Very interesting poem. Though Kim has not divulged the identity of the person pictured here,
When I submitted the poem, I identified it as an acrostic, but I can't see that Poem Hunter shows the form anymore.
Earhart was a trailblazer in the field of aviation. A trully great memorial to a great icon
I really enjoy this one Kim And I also wonder where she is
Thanks for commenting, LeeAnn. If she were still alive she would be 125 years old!
She flies through the memories of our souls… there are a few, who stick with us, and always shall. Very good poem.
