You Are On Your Own Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

You Are On Your Own

When your hopes're everywhere n' nowhere
You're manly self-engulfed in the inferno of hopeless payload
But if you care to notice,
An occasional flicker of moon pops up to light up the way
Man, relax n' concentrate
For not every moving shadow is a target

When your hopes're high n' all'ver
Still, better relax n' concentrate
For you're worth nothing beyond what you can provide:
Seed in your loins, labour n' war: the rest is toxic masculinity
Otherwise know this fact boy child; you're on your own
Maybe t's time you rose to reclaim your God giv'n worth

When your hopes're all spread out wide
I urge you to relax n' concentrate
For to be ‘woke" is to be mentally broke
Subscribe not to the fallacies of soul-wrecked ideologues
Who've turned institutions of higher learning to those of higher yearning
This's the time; men of high worth, rise n' rescue humanity from its own puke
