Xmas Eve Poem by SylvaOnyema (SUPER.T) Ubah

Xmas Eve

All eyes kept vigil now
Disciples of the cross
Praying down
The minutes of life

Sounds of joyful bombs
Electrify the streets
Amplified lyrics
Climb the crescendo

Extravagant liquid
Swims the stomach of men
People on bent knees
Lift faces to the sky

Behold! the Holy hour is knocking
Awaiting the opening of the door
For the one
Whose sandals
Are greater than mine.

Thanks Kim Barney for your comments. I appreciate. Extravagant liquid Swims the stomach of men The poet refers to men who have taken excess alcohol. In the spirit of the season, most men drink without caution and could lead to intoxication.

A fascinating poem, even though I did not understand it all, especially these lines: Extravagant liquid Swims the stomach of men
