Wwi Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Wwi

WWI

I am not pessimist,
How could I ever be?

I have been, am active,
Traveled, and have seen,
Places and people,
The cities, countries…

Everywhere, in each land,
By the seas, and island,
To mountains, to the sands,
Saw nothing but kindness,
Though there are,
Will always,
Some thorns by flowers.

Problem as I see,
Had been the gardeners,
They claim and govern:
"Keep this, kill another! "

British and allies,
Destroyed Ottomans,
And with it planted,
What today we harvest,
Divisions' disaster,
Water with blood, hate!

The dimmest of the dumbs,
Kept drawing some lines:
"Let them live in cages,
Each with a government,
With flags and anthems,
Fight against each other,
As allies, foes, friends,
And we rule over them,
Selling them armaments,
Made from their nature! "
