WOW! This is a powerful poem, and I don't want to do anything as trivial as writing a paraphrase of it. Your imagery carries the meaning of the poem as it should. The poem exists in two time frames: that of the speaker who is weighed down with loss and love for those vanished into their mortality; AND that of the poet behind the speaker who is outside the immediacy of such feelings and lends his eloquence and depth of emotion to the grieving speaker.
