With this lovely write you have ended your writer's block. There's a smooth flow n words come so easy to you. For a writer the most frustrating thing is writer's block. So much of our happiness depends on writing that if a day goes without writing we feel something is missing. Very beautifully expressed. Great write as always.10
Writer's block is so clearly explained. Hope those lines can be reshaped somehow.
Lovely poem Valsa. Your poem has such a smooth flow to describe what we writers go through. Some time this writer's block is so difficult to overcome. All we have at our hands a pile of words like thousands of small quilting blocks of various shapes and sizes and a quilter sitting and pondering how to join them. Thanks for sharing.
You described it so accurately and painfully! It's like you are inside my head! I have never before realized that we writers go through the same challenging and extremely embarrassing moments- -you've described it so well that I cringe remembering how pleased I was with something I wrote... only to come back later and CRINGE at how bad it is. You made the experience a visual feast! - - All I found was a jumbled, jotted mass To me ere they looked lovely dames Colorfully dressed up for a mega show My eyes got dazzled by their costume When I waited for them to fall in line Gyrating in rhythmic steps They stood still, a disorderly mass Refusing to budge an inch Unwilling to sway to a rhyme - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -10++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Susan.... it so comforting to know that this is everyone's experience.......! Thank you!
Your poem reminded me that I began a novel in 2004 and earnestly finished its first chapter. However, not a single word after that although I have a theme burning in my head. Main reason is lethargy - I am habitually lazy. The second reason I suspect is that there is no chance of immediate applause because writing a novel is a long process, unlike a poem or opinion-expression in a web debate. Even then, I have found that sometimes I spend months ruminating on poem themes without being able to transfer my ideas on to paper. I remember my poet-friend Padmaja Iyegar had written a beautiful, short poem on the same subject and there is a website which lists ten reasons for the block. You have done a good research into the why of it. (10)
Don't ever give up....! If you have the seed of a novel in your head.... gradually make it sprout and grow, so that we can proudly say, our poet friend is a novelist too!
Writer's block is a stumbling block no doubt but you have overcome it by writing an inspired poem, so honest with the unfortunate dilemma dissected and then rejected. You have won the battle to allow your imagination to run free and to encourage creativity by relaxing for a while and allow words to become your friends again! Brilliant write Valsa!
A writer's block, how it's broken, we learn from others many new things and then thoughts start coming. We are inspired once again to write a new poem. A wonderful poem by Valsa George.
Poetic expression comes after seeing paper after paper. Everyday we read poems after poems here well expressed by poets. Taking a little break and relaxing for a while bring complement in self. Very interesting and amazing expression is shared...10
A Beautiful poem on Writer's Block. You have arranged each block so well, given a beautiful shape as well. You spoke many things which we all face. Loved reading it.
