Worry Story Poem by Donna McCord

Worry Story

She worries about her husband, her age and her cats.
And worries about pain and the wrong in her past
Her kids, her grandkids and all of her friends
Her ex, her paycheck and how much she spends.

She worries about weight and the size of her butt
The house, the car and when her grass will get cut.
Social security, the economy and the price of gas
Arbitration, medication and cars going fast.

She worries about her teeth, her nails and her hair
Her shoes, her purse and what she will wear.
If winter’s over then why’s it so cold
And if that’s a sign that’s she’s just getting old.

Her insurance, her pension and what year she’ll retire.
And what date her driver’s license expires.
She worries that one-day she’ll run out of time
To worry about all this stuff on her mind.

Now girl, life’s about living and you’re missing it.
You need to quit worrying and slow down a bit.
God gave you life, it’s a gift called the present
The past is gone and tomorrow’s not here yet.
