As a public school teacher, I used to work for very little, compared to what people with similar education in other fields made, but I loved my work and my students so I kept at it for forty years. Now I am retired and have more money than I've ever had.
Your poem celebrates common people with no false fanfare just simple words telling the truth of things. I agree with about corrupt politicians. But you have to add to the offensive against injustice the oligarchs who pay no taxes and reap the benefits of a top heavy economic system. When a CEO earns 700 times more money than a worker and can also take a huge bonus, we have a patently unjust system. // Your opening stanza is a vivid picture of the stress and clutter of modern life, and my response is to sing the old gospel song, TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, PUSH ME IN THE WATER... because we need a lot of spiritual strength to live in modern society.
