Mother and motherland,
River Ganges of this holy land,
Lord Krishna, the charmer,
And one's protective father,
Rare— this five-fold j-sounding bend.

Jananī janma-bhūmih cha jāhnavī cha janārdanah |
Janakah panchamah cha eva jakārāh pancha durlabhāh ||
jananī: the mother
janma-bhūmih cha: and the motherland
jāhnavī: the Ganges, the sacred river Gangā in North India
cha janārdanah: and Lord Krishna, the charmer of hearts
janakah: one who protects, nourishes
panchamah cha: and the fifth
eva: indeed
jakārāh: words with ‘j' alliteration
pancha: the five
durlabhāh: (are) rare, hard to get

The poet deserves falicitations for the translation without losing the spirit and soul of the original work. The five gifts God has given us viz. mother, father, motherland, Mother Ganga and Lord Krishna are certainly his rare gifts for us....10
