Words For A Fallen Senior Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Words For A Fallen Senior

Now I know, this world is different
And it makes me think even different
Fate often gives not what we deserve
Although we toil and cringe to serve

Not just one but many things make this world incoherent
It baffles and wonders even with many who claim adherent
Many treasures we all think are meant to preserve
Vanity upon vanity; hardly anything to conserve

SOJ, you were a breed with strength inherent
Time past, you led and stood firm
Your struggles, focused; not aberrant
Your achievements, precious, we can confirm

But then we will all, one day, fall
Different; we profess and call
Alas! Not in the rain of bullets
With a flood of blood in scarlets

Now you left your wife
And this sinful world, with its strife
Let your killer check his conscience
May your family continue to cherish your presence?

RIP SOJ
