I have almost forgotten the tale of Nala and Damyanti. Thank you for reminding. I need to refresh my memory of this story by reading it again.

It's good that you have added the graphic. If possible, please resize (reduce the size of) the picture to retain its sharpness.

To me, it represents the triveni or the confluence of Indian mythology, painting and poetry. I like the idea and appreciate this poetic representation. Your grasp of the theme, ambience and the language is meticulous and finetuned. Thanks, Geeta ji.

Part 5. Beautiful poem. Thank you for introducing the poets of PoemHunter to the lovely paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and of course, to the most aesthetic episode of Nalacharitham, the Hamsadoot (message of love sent through Messenger Swan) .

Part 4. Even his paintings of Hindu Goddesses are modelled on his wife, both in the features and drapes.

Part 3. You know pretty well that the Women of Kerala wore no sarees and blouses in the 19th century (life time of the painter.) . They used to wear Mundus.

Part 2 But, almost all his paintings of women are modelled on his wife, who was a Maharashtrian noble lady. Please look at this very painting of Damayanti. Her features and her dressing (in a Maharashtrian style saree draped in Maharashtrian style) are typically Maharashtrian. Contd
