If a loved one died, life will be not the same for the family, especially if that person is very young. No matter what, but if kids die earlier than parents, this is the biggest tragedy in a family's life. Amazingly written, Richard. I feel deep sadness inside me.5 Stars full.

Sylvia, I too felt such deep sadness when reading about Gerard's death. I had to do something constructive with it. I wrote a few poems about Gerard and included them in my first book about Jack Kerouac. Those are the poems I'll be reading at the book launch.

Sometimes death could alter the life of our loved ones. I hope and pray in God's time, their pain will open an avenue of happiness.

Very sad and heartfelt poem, so well expressing the pain for the loss of a dear friend, like only great poets know how.

Sandra, Gerard was only 9 years old when he died. He had had a very profound influence on his younger brother Jack. His death was the start of a lifelong love-hate relationship between Jack and his mother.
