Withered In Exile Poem by Emmanuel Ayeni

Withered In Exile

Beneath the weight of lost desire.
A nation's heart beats with fading fire
Discordant notes, a people's pain.
Echoes of a promise, oh! vain.

Insidious palms, a web of deceit
A fragile trust, in fractured ties
Resources abound, yet scarcity reigns
Hollow vouchsafed, like summer rains.

Invisible chains, a people bound
Freedom's call, a distant sound
Echoes of a dream, yet to unfold
A nation's story, still untold

But whispers rise, a murmuring stream
A people's voice, a latent dream
For tables turned, and power shifted
A new dawn breaking, hearts uplifted

Memories linger, of struggles past
Lessons unlearned, forever to last
Walls erected, divisions deep
A house divided, in endless sleep

Rivers of gold, yet parched earth remains
A people's wealth, in foreign gains

Voices silenced, in hollowed halls
A nation's cry, in muted calls
Invisible chains, a people bound
