The Protector - 7
Finally
the home secretary
of the banana republic meets
the protesting women.
the protector is
conspicuous by his absence.
After meeting the protesters
the home secretary uses
his political propaganda machine
to spread rumours that
all protests stand withdrawn
unconditionally.
and in minutes,
the social media were agog
with jibes against the victims
of the rapist-murderer.
this tirade by the cyber rogues
of the ruling party continue unabated
even after the victims of rape
stated openly that nothing's changed
the protests would continue
until the rapist is behind the bars.
the protector, however, is still
conspicuous by his absence.
I think you are talking about agitation going on in India and Olympians are fighting against the mighty politicians. Your poem is a nice way to contribute to the situation.
If you think so, you could be right, my dear poet. But banana republics exist, let us accept the fact
And the show continues..... when you have every tools at your disposal what do you expect? Media is with them, Law is with them, Judiciary is with them, Investigative agencies are with them, Andh Bhakts - general public is with them, Who can stop them to give STUPENDIOUS PERFORMANCE.
All constitutional institutions have been hijacked. It reminds of Germany,1934
All drama to cover the rapist, had they been sincere they would have immediately detained the culprit and put him in judicial custody for proper investigation, all eye-wash just to show that they want some outcome. Shame on Banana republic.
Shame on all of us too. Because, as Winston Churchill said, "you only get a government you deserve"! Maybe we deserve just this!
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
An elegy to democracy and ode to demonocracy. A reminder to the peoples of the banana republic: 'you only get a government you deserve'
