With The Stars Poem by Saroj Padhi

With The Stars

Away with the stars
as I tried to decipher the vision
ingrained in the sky
under the pallor of faint light
blurred by smokes of tears
from planet earth
blotting out the eye
with a flurry of images:
of wounded trees
bleedinglike butchered animals
beside the highways
under weight of wrong decisions
their aspiration to clutch a handful of sky
shattered by human axe-
dreams decimated
by myopic hands of science;
of flowers forgetful of their fragrance
befuddled by long absence of bees
of elephants groaning
chained to gigantic trees,
of hunger boiling in the belly of earth
to be appeased by food of a toxic breeze,
of humans in trap of drug cartels
destroyed by smoking weeds
that peddle ways to ambition with ease
of a large chunk of civilization
giving in to sleaze;

I closed my eyes
as no more could I look at the self's
piteous reflection in the mirror of the sky
longing to see had vanished
and there opened the door to internal eye.
