An interesting poem. The comic seriousness with which the subject matter is dealt makes the poem a good read.

I tell you the truth the modern doctors are not too much better either. I grow up to 15 yrs age without any doctor, but my mother had more knowledge then the doctors today. I had many pneumonia which was cured by just let me sweat then she gave me next day a bottle of wine to sip on and the third day I went to school. This happened many times and I never needed antibiotics. And n that time we were starving, no food, no many things. Even today I do not like doctors who wants to drug you up and when someone dies, they say, he was old anyway, because doctors cannot heal. Only we can be healed ourselves, if we have the faith that God shows us the way clearly what to do, because sickness comes from our thinking and the life style we pick up after. Healing is within us. Adding to this I do not like dentists either, so I am never sick and have the high hope I never need any of them. And if I do, I shall face it. You brought up a good subject on my memory lane.

Hi. I read your work. It's nice and I like the narrative way of it. The meaning is also great. We should avoid superstitions.

OMG! Agreed that 75% of spiritual healers are quacks I can give examples of a 1000 who can remove all pains instantly. In the West these are ridiculed. I am famous in Mumbai for curing the heart. All monitors change readings in 60 seconds and heart attack is gone. Patient is out of ICCU next day. The voodoo man you encountered must be a quack. Spiritualism is very much alive.

We all know the reality about witch-doctors, and even then some time or later we all get trapped by them...it points out a flaw in human psychology...the frailty of nature...or some complexes...La Soaphia is very right...

This is why I tell over and over, that people should learn about the human body that they could handle many things if they come up, because the healing is within us, not with the witch doctor, or any doctor. If we learn what to eat, how to eat, when to eat, how to take care of our body parts, we do not need them. Personally I do not like doctors, dentist and all the medical people, because they are just like everyone they are business people who just want to earn big money, they want to tell others what to do, and they do not know it either. That witch doctor was same.

Its scary that some people get suckered into believing things from men who spread hocus pocus crap instead of taken advice from actual professionals who work with real medicine. I don’t like dentist (or doctors) but I know in life and death Ill go to them. Anyways really great write

A beautiful alliterative poem about superstitious practices still prevalent and reckless exploitation of those claiming miraculous powers! ! The smooth flow of this poem makes it a very enjoyable read!

Clearin d misundrstandin: i too am against pharmaceuticals for evry lil ailment. I too am all for natural, spiritual herbal and traditional remedies and treatments as i use them all d time. But what my poem is actually deridin is the magical chant and spells treatment that witchdocs quacks fool people with usin witchcraft. I hope dat clears it 4 readers.

Great flow and easy rhythm I love this... i am obsessed by all things spiritual and i do believe much of our society has medicines too readily available and often a herbal remedy is sufficient for milder symptoms...like me... if i have a headache, a cup of tea and a cool flannel on forehead gets rid of most of mine, yet most just reach for pills which i think is a shame.... a lot of what are considered hocus pocus medicines i believe have merit (not all but a lot) mind you a toothache is another kettle of fish entirely, , , i think it is one of the worst pains around... tyvm karen
