Wise Old Dog Poem by Gabriel Mc Keown

Wise Old Dog

Rating: 5.0

She left me suddenly,
‘Cause I ate sack of raw spuds,
Said that was the last straw
Never had seen that before.
My head was on fire
My belly rumbling,
Didn't know what to say
She kept on mumbling.

That was the start of
My present trouble.
She left the house empty
My head was buzzing.
Two days I stood it
Thenwent on the mooch.

What could I find
To halt my distress,
Nothing in the kitchen
All cleaned out.
Then In the garage
I saw it on the ground,
Tried it with my teeth
Seemed quite tangy.

Swallowed it down crazily
Gnawing and chewing
Gobbling in a frenzy.
Since then I tried my teeth
On everything in the house.
Wood and plastic tasty,
Paper only good for a mouse.

Recently I find
It'sgetting tougher
To get food
To masticate,
And swallow
Without paying
Your life away.

Hit it in sleep
The other day.
Concrete and mortar,
Between bricks,
Would make
Rough sandwich
To chew and chomp,

Now locals call me
Wise Old Dog,
Way I survive,
Like a wild savage
AuldBushtucker Grub.
