Winter's Majesty Poem by Marc Jude Fernandes

Winter's Majesty

It feels so good to be sad
Discard the wedding gown and don the funeral attire
Mourn the death of every earthly desire
And in your moments of grief be glad

Welcome to this sad rendezvous of the netherworld
Where queenly death greets you with winter frost
Watch as the night's business begins to unfurl
And from this moment, let not a second be lost

Ah! Behold the solemnity and majesty of winter
It must not suffer for want of sufficient praise
Even though we're denied the light of the sun's rays
Winter is not less glorious than summer

For in life, winter teaches us many things
Ah! Scorn not the sweet pain which winter brings
