Spring is here, yet winter has not left us.
It's a time for blossoms to come forth - but they are freezing
from the cold.
Look out a window and see the bright sun shining everywhere,

Simple and lovely. The hands of winter could be chilly and death. Thanks for sharing

outside we've got drifts as tall as me, and it's all kinds of cold. Your penning is perfect, like looking right out the window. Pretty good writing there. tyfs

Just been reviewing some really bad poems on Poemhunter. Then I came across your poem. Your English is good. The 2nd line: but they are freezing from the cold. You know what that's called? Pathetic fallacy. I am sure you can do better than that. Can you SEE the warmth hanging in the air? Think again! You need another verb there. I don't think you SEE warmth. (And note, you've repeated the word 'see' again in the next line. I'm sure you have a better vocabulary.) There's a lot of potential in this poem, but you need to sharpen your skills a little more. Don't let these insincere flatterers who rave about every poem get you trapped in the delusion that you are top rate. We all need to learn so much more - to craft and shape a true work of art demands discipline. Not this mushy flattery from people who don't know English (and are better off, writing in their native languages!)

I value sincerity in whatever guise, whether polished smooth or with jagged edges, though I had misgivings all the way through with this comment, expecting it to end with an invitation to subscribe to the poster's website for an inside look at all the tricks that will turn us all into great poets!

Deeply felt sensations masterfully cheselled in a way that encourages the reader to take the plunge to explore the beauty of the images whose directness enables her/him to capture the essence of the whole poem. I really liked it. Though, we're suffering heatwave, I felt the chilliness of winter while reading the poem! Yet, I think that the poem addresses something deeply psychological. The opening lines are reminiscent of D. G. Rossetti's Barren Spring

Enjoyed this warm-hearted poem, though it's cold outside. Cold weather stops me in my tracks. Lol. I wrote one similar to this, hope to share it sometime soon. Thanks for sharing.

I can relate to this poem you wrote in 1976...It still works in MN in 2015 RoseAnn. Nice work. I like this write. It conveys the early spring imagery as well as the human emotion...that feeling of being locked in from the cold. Thanks for sharing this! :)

You said everything in so few and such simple words. Like Soul Watcher said, you make the reader live the situation you're talking about. I enjoyed this. I know what you're talking about. Been to America, experienced the winter there. And I know...Spring is here, yet winter has not left us. Winter doesn't leave easy!

Very awesome, your diction in describing the events is so nice such as when you say Outside the door, I take a step, my breath I can see blowing in the wind. It's cold against my skin and quickly I step back in. You make the reader live the situation you're talking about. Thanks for sharing.
