The earth is under your freezing clutch
I hear the roar of gales from far
The sky is overcast without a single star

Part - 1 How sky is overcast without stars, how a person feels icy touch of winter, and how a poet or poetess hears the roar of gales from far have been so touchingly inscribed by you. Watching Nature is one of your passions is well justified here in this poem. You have drawn a vivid picture of the

Part - 2 crowdless city in winter's morning as.." Busy streets and pavements are now lying bare / People stay indoors and to go out, they hardly dare / The rodents have gone into hibernation in their ditch / And life altogether has gone out of pitch. Marvelous work.

The tribute paid to the winter here is an assurance of nature`s vivid and myriad material ever being an enchanting thing for a poet`s creative flutter. The poem is a pleasant one with the negative aspects of the season kept at bay. A FINE WRITE deserving a 10, madam.

I was trying to think where you were in India to observe what is the dead-on image of a North American winter. Perhaps in the Himalayas! Now from your note I see this was my part of the world, but how thoroughly you have embraced winter, in all its dimensions from the physical with cold, snow and ice to the cultural with people huddling together with hot lemon tea and the warmth of companionship. Now I want to get to India and do a poem there for you! Oh, Mother India, you have been summoning me for decades! !

The last line of the poem was the real icing on the cake. In spite of the gloominess that winter casts, life still can be made sweet and warm!

Winter beautifully painted with vivid observations of the change in nature and people as they all readjust to a colder spell of weather that brings inspiration for family gatherings or reading books to enchant us in front of a blazing fire!

Busy streets and pavements are now lying bare People stay indoors and to go out, they hardly dare We went through it for past few months. This winter was severe. More snow on the east coast amounting to several feet. Power lost and travel all paralyzed. However there are those who enjoy skiing. Snow is welcome for them. Melting snow keeps the ground wet in the months following to let plants grow fast. Your beautiful poem captures many aspects winter beautifully. Thank you.

You have described winter in great detail with your usual panache for rhyme and beauty. The poem ends with some practical advice too. Good write. (10)

You describe Winter with such fresh eyes Valsa. I feel as if I know it better now. My favourite lines are: 'Piles of snow lie heaped on the barren ground And the entire Earth in a sea of ice drowned' and Busy streets and pavements are now lying bare People stay indoors and to go out, they hardly dare and 'In such quiet hours, one can peruse into the pages of tomes That will transport you to enchanting magical zones' ....I could keep adding favourite lines but then I'd end up just reproducing the whole poem!
