Winkers Poem by Ima Ryma

Winkers

While walking through the woods one day,
I spied an owl perched in a tree.
And the closer I came its way,
I could see the owl wink at me.
Well that's a nice gesture I thought,
One's wink to another one wise.
So I winked back thinking I ought
Participate in winking eyes.
But then I thought my winking back
Could be an insult to the owl,
Maybe considered an attack,
Ruffling feathers for being foul.

The owl must know the thoughts I think,
Because I got another wink.
