I'm not sure of my 'history facts', but even if this poem is meant to be fictional, it is a topic worth considering for world leaders et al. I give **** stars. bri : )
As a topic/hashtag, 'demise' fits the poem. And though people died on both sides of the 'Vietnam Conflict', now the U.S. and 'South Vietnam' are at peace and 'made in Vietnam' labels have been found in U.S. stores.
A powerful poem so well expressed. A great warning to those who engage in chemical warfare.
lovely poem with powerful expressions. Just the thought of the scenario is so troubling.

Congratulations, Tom. This poem is selected as the POD MEMBER today, albeit posted some six years back. A well-deserved recognition.
Oh how wonderful this Verse is! how the beauty dramatically vanished around us? ... well done for all these amazing images and poetic phrases, it deserves 10++ thanks for sharing Dear poet Tom
The effects are still being felt in Laos Cambodia and Vietnam, thank you for this meaningful reminder. A pleasure to read, well written. Thank you Tom.
Bro, To be sure, the Agent Orange used in SE Asia while the U.S. followed in the military steps ot the French, fighting supposedly to save expanding Communism, harmed plants and 'others'. : ( bri
I shudder to think that humans can do such a thing to each other and to innocent animals and live with themselves comfortable in their skins. A sad reality.
What might happen in the event of chemical warfare, nicely narrated in a poem.
Now there was only silence But for the whistling windβ Wonderful poetic expression.. chemical wrath raining down Now in syria.. it was death and death. Thank you for these wonderful touching expressions
This reminds me of a book I read many years ago titled Silent Spring..by Rachel Carson..just the thought that there would be no bird song to greet the dawn saddens me..good poem..
Thank you so much sharing, your brilliant poem inspired me, hope you won't mind it: Two summers ago could see no birds for 5 days in a row. Eyes search in vain the βbirdlessβ lands And sterile skies. To every glance My heart with knifes of ice was stabbed. Lucky, the birds right now, are back But thoughts of birds depleted sky Brings new and frightful worries.
It's a terrifying thought and very well expressed. You have a good sense of rhythm.
Even after 7 years, situation is same......
