Willpower. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Willpower.

A little voice inside our head,
Says, 'Cookies now or go to bed! '
But bigger plans, a brighter aim,
Whisper back, a different game.

Willpower's there, a steady hand,
To help us all to understand,
That instant joy can fade so fast,
While future goals are meant to last.

Like water drawn from a dark deep well,
Each choice we make, a story to tell.
We spend it fast on silly things,
Or save it up for the joy it brings.

When feeling low, or tired, and beat,
Willpower's low, a fading heat.
So rest a while, refill the cup,
Then stand up tall, and look straight up.

Set clear your goals, a guiding star,
And know how strong you truly are.
Discipline's a helpful friend,
To help you reach the very end.
