Will You Be My Bosom Friend? Poem by Namita Rani Panda

Will You Be My Bosom Friend?

Will you be my bosom friend
and when I'm in need
without being asked
will you lend me a helping hand?
With countless friends all around
not a single bosom friend to be found!
Will you help me to smile in sorrow
and sup my rivers of woes
from my perennial eyes
and with your cool touch
will you help me to rain
when like a black cloud
I become an elephantine silence?
When I become a shrivelled up seed
devoid of hope, love and vision
will you shower your calming affection
andnourishmetoatreehavingleaves
dappled green?
Will you sweep away my truculent typhoons
with your strong gust of love
andfillmyheartwithloveforlifeand
optimism?
Will you blow out the flames of hatred
that blazes me day by day
and bereaves me of my own flame
with the breeze of your breezy passion?
Will you show me the right path
when I distract from my destination
and be my pole star
in this world full of distractions?
When tired of life full of strife and struggle
and thousands grand huddles,
to lean and rest
will you lend me your sympathetic shoulder?
And if I stumble and fall behind
will you with love lead me forward
holding my helpless empty hand?
When I mingle with dust
will you keep me alive in your heart
and in your glowing golden words
in years to come even you yourself depart?
