Why Won'T You Read My Poetry? Comments

Rating: 0.0

I printed all my poems out and put them in a book.
I've placed it on the table in the hopes you'll take a look.

You know you'll find my soul there beneath the cover page.

Wonderful poem, Mary. I like how the serious tone becomes unexpectantly humerous at the end... Well done! ! Brian

It's funny that I'm going through the same thing. I placed my book on the table and now it's missing.

I don't think that would work with my other half, I have to tie him down to get him to concentrate on what I have written. I enjoyed this one. Sincerely Ernestine.

This one is funny - you know it is so true. And so is your solution.

This is excellent, Mary. And what is it with spouses? I have to trick mine into sitting in that special chair, lean back and listen to one of mine. ......'is it a long one? , I sure hope not...' H

Mary, this is fantastically written. The rhyme obviously brings great ring to the poem but you bring great humour to this poem which is brilliant. I would read your book any day!

Mary, how dare you write so naively, and so down-to-earthly, and then throw in a laugh, and bring all this off superbly! ... I'm awed.

'A [poet] has no honor in [her own own home, town, country..]'... My family gets sad when they read my stuff... Their translation is: 'Truth equals bitterness'..not so...It's how I vent. Lovely job, Mary!

This is really one of your best poems, and I agree with Raynette about the ending.

Hi Mary. It's my turn now to say, I could have written this one. Really nice, and definitely my style, especially with the funny ending. I know how hellish it is when no one is interested in what you write. A little praise goes a long way, don't you think? Sincerely Ernestine.

Mary, this is really nice. I have a small critique. By putting the last stanza in, you went for the laugh...and that is always fun (and probably so true) but I was caught up in the heart rending plea of the poem, the beautiful way you described putting your soul into the book and the last stanza was a bit jarring. I'm of two minds: (1) I always love a good laugh in a poem; (2) when something is this beautiful and sweet, it is too bad to go for the laugh. Just a thought. You can tell I loved it. Raynette

I think poets have two fears: that no one Will read their poetry, that someone will read their poetry.
