Why War When We Can Talk Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Why War When We Can Talk

It always that the young would to war
As the older would to peace
By war nothing changes
But bloodshed, strife, hate and vengeance the cycle

I hate wars
For vengeance is always
In the bloodline of the defeated
History of defeat is like a bitter herb down generations

I would wars are fought over tables
For there is nothing we fight for
That which we cannot talk over
No to arms of war
