This poem is from my collection of Poems 'On Love' which I plan to upload in PH shortly Love is – Immortal! Love – It grows but never ages Though it blooms It never withers, By itself most blind Yet is fed by sight. Full of jealousy Never vengeful Grows by thoughts Yet, it pines away. Though most delicate Nothing sturdier grew, Called Divine – It makes people mad. Love is made immortal By mortal men and women! Whatever it is - We can never do without Love - Or it's pain! Angel.

Yea, Yea, love and its inner contradictions. But we still love to love. So there! Cheers. Subroto

Liked the title. Context is also good. The starting line is really good and so is the ending line. Nice work.

I really liked the theme of a river, the first stanza with the flowing river, then the second when it ceases to flow. Your imagery was well thought out, and the comparison of passion then pain was very nicely done. Love should hold the world together. Love is played all day long on radio, in films, in poetry and novels and billions of songs and poems have been crafted. And yours is a lovely piece of work. 10 from me

Love hurts as do all lessons in life sometimes. Out of pain comes the knowledge to do things different. Love carries memories that teaches, muse and we savour the moments of pleasure. Love is a powerful, powerful thing and not for the faint hearted or the ill prepared. Unfortunately it can creep upon on us and catch us off guard..love is beautiful for me and moreso it is the message of the scriptures. Good luck! E

if love has tinge of expectations, selfishness, disloyalty, unfailthfulness....then it hurts..........Otherwise it is- as you say -supernatural force.....10+++...

Ever flowing love has a hold of us, when too much love flows we sink with heavy hearts. Great piece my friend.10+

It was a joy reading Why love hurts. The analogy of love to river was very good for me. I read it a few more times, and kept visualizing different rivers during different seasons and comparing it to love. Viewing love within a relationship and the way the water flows on the river during theses seasons from calm to choppy to ferocious and overflowing; and then having the river stop altogether.
