Why Do We? Poem by Chris Todd, Jr.

Why Do We?

Why do we fight the wars we fight?
(So sensless)
Why do we kill others because of their beliefs?
(So hatefull)
Is it pride, is it honor?
(Too arrogant)
Is it the truth, or self gratification?
(Too conceited)
What drives us to this madness, this hate, this destruction?
(The carnage)
Picture the soldiers figthing for you,
And me,
Fighting so we don’t have too,
But we call them killers,
And spit on them, in our homeland,
Why do we belittle them,
Why,
They give their lives for you,
For me, for all,
For freedom…
