Whom To Be Convinced Poem by Shelvakumari Thachayil

Whom To Be Convinced

We strive against the stream
Each moment farther from the shore
 Where life's young fountains gleam
Each moment fainter wave the fields
I don't remember ever saying yes just no
I am searching for my own body
Not the one I was told is so
I want to be always  open
I have ignored you for a year
I have known your name for centuries
But mines still just a foreign language to you.
My tongue is tied
And you are lost in translation
But that just how these things will remain.
My body sings every time
Because your picture is like a melody
You deserve it to hit me
