Who You Are Poem by Etienne Charilaou

Who You Are

Rating: 5.0

I'm nothing! I know you!
Are you nothing too?
There's my companion!
Don't tell! It's best only we know.

How some do go on!
With words and flashes
making everyone blind.
Their names augmented -
it's a little demented!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I decided to do a different take on Emily Dickinson's poem below:

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you - Nobody - too?
Then there's a pair of us!
Don't tell! they'd advertise - you know!

How dreary - to be - Somebody!
How public - like a Frog -
To tell one's name - the livelong June -
To an admiring Bog!

I'm nothing! I know you! Are you nothing too? There's my companion! Don't tell! It's best only we know. Nothingness and being and search for identitiy. tony
