Who Would Believe Poem by Gary James Smith

Who Would Believe

Who Would Believe

Who would believe that a little heart
That pumps out life giving blood
Could be filled with such wickedness
Yet thus says the Word of God
The heart is deceitful above all things
Desperately wicked says God's Word
In the old testament Jeremiah 17: 9
Is from where that verse is heard

Yet we stay in self denial
Sometimes at truthful facts
The devil seems to love it so
He laughs when we don't react
He knows himself the Word is true
That is has sin resistant power
He tried to tempt the Lord Himself
When He was at His weakest hour

Yea hath God said
Was the opening statement of his
He was bent on deceiving Eve
And his opening question thus
Then " ye shall not surely die"
Who gave him that authority
To upsurp the very word of God
Yes the father of lies was he

Adam and Eve partook of the fruit
That God said not to touch
They immediately became aware of their disobedience
And tried to hide themselves as such
But where can you go to hide from God
This shows sin's inability
To escape the dire consequences
Which was a death for you and me

By one man's disobedience
Sin came into this world
And so death passed upon all men
In the Bible this word is heard
So every time your heart beats
Remember to take this truth in
The heart is deceitful above all things
And desperately wicked from sin

That's why we need a Saviour
To bring change to our heart within
We need a brand new nature
So we can have victory over sin
And only God can help us
Which He did so through His Son
When we repent and put our faith in Him
Our new birth has begun

Jesus said we must be born again
That we must be born from above
The Holy Spirit as the Initiator
When we put our trust in the Lord
And it resonates with our Spirit
When the transaction's finally done
Born again by the Spirit of God
Where faith's victory is won!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

Most beautiful poem about The Lord, Jesus and the Bible. We as the ones who believe in The Holy Trinity, we try to live according to the Ten Commandments and If so, there is no place for the devil. I have enjoyed your loveliest poem, Gary. Thank you so much for sharing.
