Who Am I? Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Who Am I?

Rating: 3.5

Let me tell you a secret
I am something
When I am not playing
When I am not writing
When I am "poeting"
I am selling
Who am I?

I am a Salesman
Some call me a Marketer
But I know who I am
An insurance Salesman
I sell technology to the Japanese
Sand to the Egyptians
Ice to the Eskimos
And entertainment to the Americans

Still in awe?
I sell crude oil to Shell
Electricity to power generating companies
Just that you know
I have sold coffins to the living
In the order of Joseph of Arimathea
Before you start forming deputy Jesus
Consult and study your bible
All I am, a refined gap analyst

I predict the future
Reduce the risk to statistical nothingness
I am the Joseph that saved Egypt
With a term assurance plan
Which later preserved their destiny
And earned them foreign currency
This saved them from imminent depression
Don't subject your future to chance
I protect, preserve and preserve those those things you love

Even if my success is grossly under-reported
By media principalities and powers
Remember, I am the one who will step up with a cheque
When everyone else walks in with a pat
The next time you see an Insurance Salesman
Especially of American International
Ask how we can be of help
Because it is better to have insurance
Than need it and not have it
