Whither New Year? Poem by Upendra Majhi

Whither New Year?

New year was coming,
its footsteps could be heard,
all were spreading carpets of many colours,
welcome, welcome the guest,
But fact is that, it is like searching for a black cat,
in a dark room which is not there,
it is the very old guest,
sitting in the corner, it is the senior citizen,
Time is the oldest citizen,
older than all matters, all creatures,
where is the new young guest, you said,
he is coming, on horseback, riding an elephant,
Time is indivisible, imperceptible,
sun, moon, stars and timepiece is not the time.
You may keep one dozen timepiece,
but it is not taming the time.
