Where The Rubber Hits The Road Poem by Royston Nella

Where The Rubber Hits The Road

Down in the gutter where the rubber hits the road
and the people are carrying such a heavy load,
You will find Jesus walking and talking to them
This Son of God, this Holy Man of Bethlehem.

There He reaches out to the one with leprosy.
There He opens eyes so that the blind can see.
There He unstops the ears of a man born deaf.
Calls Lazarus from the dark grave and gives him breath.

Who is this Man of whom all of the prophets speak?
Who is this Holy One whom all the Wise men seek?
He is Jesus the Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life
Who has opened heaven's door by His sacrifice.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I met a recently converted Christian as he was returning from a bible study at the local MacDonald's take away. When I asked him what passage he had studied - He smiled andtold me that they just opened the bible and talked about Jesus sharing the scriptures and a "big Mac" with those that were homeless or struggling in other ways.
